Rainwater Harvesting System
In 2024, Albany Water Systems engineered, supplied, and commissioned a fully integrated rainwater harvesting system for the 100 Broadway mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. This project was part of the building’s sustainable water management initiative, aimed at reducing potable water consumption. The system captures and reuses rainwater collected from roof surfaces, providing a consistent non-potable water source for landscape irrigation, cooling tower make-up, and sanitary flushing applications. Designed for year-round reliability, the system operates automatically with minimal maintenance requirements.
Scope of Supply
- Underground rainwater storage tank with sediment trap, access manway, and level transducer
- Pre-filtration assembly with basket strainer and first-flush diversion
- Filtration skid incorporating multi-cartridge and activated carbon filters for fine particle and odor removal
- UV disinfection unit for safe reuse and bacteria control
- Booster pump package with duplex stainless steel pumps on a common skid, complete with isolation valves and pressure control
- PLC/HMI-based control panel with automatic tank fill logic, pump alternation, trend logging, and alarm outputs for BAS integration
- Flow meters, pressure transmitters, and control accessories for system monitoring
All equipment was factory-assembled, pre-wired, and tested at Albany’s facility prior to delivery, ensuring quick installation and reliable operation on-site.
This project reflects Albany Water Systems’ expertise in turnkey water reuse systems, providing sustainable, efficient, and intelligent solutions for commercial and residential buildings across North America.
